Yudhiṣṭhira’s Procession, Encampment (Niveśa), and Auspicious Timing for Ritual Action
संस्मृत्य तदहं सम्यक् कर्तुमिच्छामि पाण्डवा: । आयत्यां च तदात्वे च सर्वेषां तद्धि नो हितम्
saṃsmṛtya tad ahaṃ samyak kartum icchāmi pāṇḍavāḥ | āyatyāṃ ca tadātve ca sarveṣāṃ tad dhi no hitam |
Vaiśampāyana sprach: «Nachdem ich jene Angelegenheit recht bedacht und in Erinnerung gerufen habe, will ich sie richtig ausführen, o Pāṇḍavas. Denn sowohl für die Zukunft als auch für die Gegenwart ist dies wahrlich zum Wohl von uns allen.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Right action (samyak) should be guided by clear recollection and deliberation, aiming at the common good (hita) not only for immediate circumstances but also for long-term consequences.
The narrator Vaiśaṃpāyana reports a resolve addressed to the Pāṇḍavas: after recalling a prior matter, the speaker intends to execute it properly because it will benefit everyone both now and in the future.
