Analysis of Tamas and its Marks
अण्डजा जन्तवश्वैव सर्वे चापि चतुष्पदा: । उन्मत्ता बधिरा मूका ये चान्ये पापरोगिण:
aṇḍajā jantavaś caiva sarve cāpi catuṣpadāḥ | unmattā badhirā mūkā ye cānye pāparogiṇaḥ ||
Vāyu sprach: „Alle aus Eiern geborenen Wesen und ebenso alle Vierfüßler—die Rasenden, die Tauben, die Stummen und andere, die von schweren Krankheiten heimgesucht sind.“
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse broadens moral attention to include all categories of living beings—especially those marked by disability, mental disturbance, or disease—implying that dharma involves compassion and protection that does not exclude the weak or suffering.
Vāyudeva is speaking and enumerates various kinds of creatures and afflicted beings, likely as part of a larger argument about the scope of beings affected by actions and the need for ethical restraint and compassion toward all life.
