Educational Q&A

A ruler should recognize capable and well-intentioned people within the realm, support them with appropriate livelihood and patronage, and actively cultivate their virtues; such nurtured merit becomes a stable foundation of loyal support.

Vaiśampāyana is delivering counsel on statecraft and ethical kingship, advising the king to secure trustworthy, skilled supporters through fitting maintenance and encouragement rather than suspicion, portraying them as unwavering allies.
