Educational Q&A

The verse lists categories of people whose actions or livelihoods are considered socially harmful or ethically blameworthy, implying that dharma requires avoiding professions rooted in violence, fraud, or exploitation.

In Anuśāsana Parva, Bhīṣma is instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma; here he enumerates certain wrongdoers and suspect occupations as part of a broader ethical and social code.
