Shloka 433

Suvarṇa-dāna: Kārttikeya’s Origin and the Defeat of Tāraka

Educational Q&A

Liberation or ascent to a highest blessed realm (Goloka) is not gained by mere wish or status, but by sustained dharmic discipline—continence, austerity, effort, sense-control, generosity, merit-making, pilgrimage, and consistent performance of auspicious duties.

Bhishma, in his instruction on dharma, addresses a revered listener with honorific epithets and explains the means by which one may attain Goloka, listing the ethical and ascetic practices required.
