Strī-satkāra (On honoring women) — Mahābhārata 13.46

नासां स्नेहो नरै: कार्यस्तथैवेष्ष्या जनेश्वर । खेदमास्थाय भुज्जीत धर्ममास्थाय चैव ह,(अनूृताविह पर्वादिदोषवर्ज नराधिप ।) नरेश्वर! मनुष्योंको स्त्रियोंके प्रति न तो विशेष आसक्त होना चाहिये और न उनसे ईर्ष्या ही करनी चाहिये। वैराग्यपूर्वक धर्मका आश्रय लेकर पर्व आदि दोषका त्याग करते हुए ऋतुस्नानके पश्चात्‌ उनका उपभोग करना चाहिये

Vipula uvāca: nāsāṃ sneho naraiḥ kāryas tathaiveṣyā janeśvara | khedam āsthāya bhuñjīta dharmam āsthāya caiva ha | anṛtāv iha parvādidoṣavarja narādhipa ||

Vipula sprach: „O Herr der Menschen, ein Mann soll weder übermäßig an Frauen hängen noch Eifersucht gegen sie hegen. In innerer Ungebundenheit und im Schutz des Dharma soll er die eheliche Vereinigung nur zur rechten Zeit genießen, nach der vorgeschriebenen Reinigung, und dabei Verfehlungen meiden — wie den Verkehr an verbotenen Tagen und andere Übertretungen.“
