Marks of a Worthy Recipient and Stable Criteria of Dharma
भवता समनुज्ञात: प्रास्थितो गन्धमादनम् । तस्य चोत्तरतो देशे दृष्टं मे दैवतं महत्
bhavatā samanujñātaḥ prāsthito gandhamādanam | tasya cottarato deśe dṛṣṭaṃ me daivataṃ mahat ||
Bhishma sprach: „Mit deiner Erlaubnis brach ich nach Gandhamādana auf. Und in der Gegend nördlich davon erblickte ich ein großes göttliches Wesen.“
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores disciplined action undertaken with proper authorization and humility, and it frames sacred travel as a context in which the divine may be encountered—suggesting that dharmic conduct and reverence open one to higher vision.
Bhishma narrates that, having received permission from the addressed person, he departed for the Gandhamādana region and there—specifically to its north—he witnessed an extraordinary divine presence.
