संधानस्य पर: कालस्तवेति च पुन: पुनः । न च मे तद् वचो मूढ: कृतवान् स सुमन्दधी: । घातयित्वेह पृथिवीं ततः स निधनं गत:
sandhānasya paraḥ kālas taveti ca punaḥ punaḥ | na ca me tad vaco mūḍhaḥ kṛtavān sa sumandadhīḥ | ghātayitveha pṛthivīṃ tataḥ sa nidhanaṃ gataḥ ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Immer wieder sagte ich zu ihm: ‚Für dich ist nun die rechte Zeit zur Versöhnung gekommen.‘ Doch jener Verblendete, von äußerst dürftigem Verstand, handelte nicht nach meinem Rat. Nachdem er diese Erde in weithin reichendes Schlachten gestürzt hatte, ging er schließlich seinem eigenen Untergang entgegen.“
