क्षत्रधर्मरत: पार्थ पितृन् देवांश्व तर्पय । श्रेयसा योक्ष्यसे चैव व्येतु ते मानसो ज्वर:
kṣatradharmarataḥ pārtha pitṝn devāṁś ca tarpayā | śreyasā yokṣyase caiva vyetu te mānaso jvaraḥ ||
Vaiśaṃpāyana sprach: „O Pārtha, bleibe standhaft in der Dharma eines Kṣatriya und befriedige die Pitṛs und die Götter durch die gebührenden Riten und Opfergaben. Du wirst gewiss das wahrhaft Heilsame erlangen; darum möge das Fieber der Sorge in deinem Geist vergehen.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Steadfastness in one’s ordained duty (kṣatra-dharma) and faithful performance of obligations to gods and ancestors leads to śreyas (true welfare) and calms inner turmoil; ethical action and ritual responsibility are presented as remedies for grief and anxiety.
Vaiśampāyana addresses Pārtha (Arjuna), urging him to remain committed to the warrior’s code and to perform acts of propitiation for the devas and Pitṛs, assuring him of auspicious outcomes and encouraging him to let go of mental distress.
