तत्कथं वै नाद्रियेयमी श्वरोडस्मीति पुत्रक । मा ते मन्युर्महाबाहो भवत्वत्र द्विजान् प्रति
tat kathaṃ vai nādriyeyam īśvaro ’smi iti putraka | mā te manyur mahābāho bhavatv atra dvijān prati ||
„Wie könnte ich da die Brāhmaṇas nicht ehren, mein Sohn, indem ich denke: ‚Ich bin der Herr, der alles zu vollbringen vermag‘? O du mit den mächtigen Armen, lass hier keinen Zorn gegen die Zweimalgeborenen aufkommen. Die Ehrfurcht vor den Brāhmaṇas darf nicht im Vertrauen auf die eigene Kraft aufgegeben werden.“
वायुदेव उवाच
Even if one feels powerful or ‘capable like a lord’ (īśvaro ’smi), that is not a license to disregard Brahmins or dharmic authorities; anger toward the dvijas should be restrained, and reverence maintained as a matter of dharma.
Vāyudeva addresses his son, explaining that in the given situation he cannot neglect honoring Brahmins, and he admonishes the son not to become angry at the twice-born, framing the issue as a test of self-control and proper conduct.
