आत्मनश्न सुतानां च दाराणां च धनस्य च | बीजानामोषधीनां च रक्षामेतां प्रयोजयेत्,अपनी, पुत्रोंकी, पत्नीकी, धनकी तथा बीजों और ओषधियोंकी भी रक्षाके लिये इस नामावलीका प्रयोग करे
ātmanaś ca sutānāṃ ca dārāṇāṃ ca dhanasya ca | bījānām oṣadhīnāṃ ca rakṣām etāṃ prayojayet ||
Bhīṣma sprach: Man soll dieses Schutzritual (diese Sammlung heiliger Namen und Formeln) anwenden, um sich selbst, die Söhne, die Gattin, den Besitz und auch Samen sowie Heilkräuter zu bewahren. So erstreckt sich der Schutz von Person und Familie auf Lebensunterhalt und die Ressourcen, die das Leben tragen.
