Regular morning remembrance and recitation of the names and virtues of the revered ones brings the fruition of auspicious karma—both inner merit and outer well-being—symbolized by freedom from dangers like fire and theft and by an unobstructed course in life.
Bhishma, instructing on dharma in the Anushasana Parva, states a phalaśruti (promise of results): one who rises early and recites the names and qualities of those previously described gains auspicious rewards and protection from common calamities, with no hindrance on one’s path.
