Śiva-darśana through Tapas and Stuti
The verse teaches exclusive reliance on Śarva (Śiva) as the highest refuge and ideal: he is portrayed as unsurpassed in protection/ultimate goal (gati), in generosity (dāna), and in martial power (raṇa), integrating ethical virtue and divine strength into a single object of devotion.
Within the Anuśāsana Parva’s didactic setting, a speaker (Upasanyu) voices a hymn-like proclamation exalting Śarva/Śiva. The statement functions as a testimonial of Śiva’s supremacy, reinforcing the parva’s broader emphasis on religious merit, vows, and the fruits of devotion.
