A householder’s dharma rests on concord between spouses—shared, harmonious conduct—and on steady daily domestic worship, expressed through regular offerings (flowers and bali) to the household deities.
Śrīmaheśvara is instructing about gṛhastha-dharma (the duties of household life), defining it through two pillars: ethical harmony within marriage and the consistent performance of daily home-ritual offerings to the deities associated with the household.
