अत्रेः तपोबलप्रकाशः तथा च्यवनस्य सोमाधिकारः

शूद्रस्य तु कुलं हन्ति वैश्यस्य पशुबान्धवान्‌ । क्षत्रियस्य श्रियं हन्ति ब्राह्मणस्य सुवर्चसम्‌,ब्राह्णणफा तेज उसके साथ भोजन करनेवाले शूद्रके कुलका, वैश्यके पशु और बान्धवोंका तथा क्षत्रियकी सम्पत्तिका नाश कर डालता है

śūdrasya tu kulaṃ hanti vaiśyasya paśu-bāndhavān | kṣatriyasya śriyaṃ hanti brāhmaṇasya suvarcasam ||

Bhīṣma erklärt, dass die moralischen und sozialen Folgen ungehörigen Handelns—besonders der Verfehlung beim Essen und im Umgang, die Dharma und Reinheit verletzt—je nach Stand verschieden treffen: Sie vernichten die Familienlinie eines Śūdra, das Vieh und die Verwandtschaftsbindungen eines Vaiśya, den Wohlstand eines Kṣatriya und die geistige Ausstrahlung samt gutem Ruf eines Brāhmaṇa.
