Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
अपि कीट: पतड़्जो वा भवेयं शड्कराज्ञया । न तु शक्र त्वया दत्त त्रलोक्यमपि कामये
api kīṭaḥ pataṅgo vā bhaveyaṃ śaṅkarājñayā | na tu śakra tvayā dattaṃ trailokyam api kāmaye ||
Vāsudeva sprach: „Auf Śaṅkaras Geheiß könnte ich selbst ein Wurm oder eine Motte werden; doch, o Śakra, begehre ich nicht einmal die Herrschaft über die drei Welten, wenn sie von dir verliehen wird. Welchen Stand Mahādeva auch bestimmt—sei er noch so niedrig—den werde ich als höchste Erfüllung achten; aber die Herrschaft über die Götter nehme ich von keinem außer Ihm begehrend an.“
