अग्निकार्येषु वै तेषां हव्यं नाश्नाति पावक: । जो प्रज्वलित यज्ञाग्निमें समिधाकी आहुति नहीं देते, उनके अग्निहोत्रमें अग्निदेव हविष्य ग्रहण नहीं करते हैं (अतः अग्नि प्रज्वलित किये बिना उसे आहुति नहीं देनी चाहिये)

Śakra sprach: „Wer die rechten Handlungen im Zusammenhang mit dem heiligen Feuer vernachlässigt, dessen Opfergabe nimmt Agni nicht an. Darum müssen Darbringungen nach der Vorschrift geschehen: das geweihte Opferfeuer ist zu entzünden und zu hüten, und Brennholz (samidhā) sowie havis sind ordnungsgemäß darzubringen; sonst bleibt das Opfer sittlich und geistig wirkungslos.“
