Bhaṅgāśvanopākhyāna — On comparative affection in strī–puruṣa union (भङ्गाश्वनोपाख्यानम्)

इन्द्रद्ध्रिन यजता मामनाहूय घिष्ठितम्‌ । इन्द्रोडहमस्मि दुर्बुद्धे वैरं ते पातितं मया,“तुमने उस यज्ञका अनुष्ठान किया जिसका मुझसे वैर है। मेरा आवाहन न करके तुमने वह यज्ञ पूरा कर लिया। खोटी बुद्धिवाली स्त्री! मैं वही इन्द्र हूँ और तुमसे मैंने ही अपने वैरका बदला लिया है”

indraddhriṇa yajatā māṁ anāhūya gṛhītam | indro ’ham asmi durbuddhe vairaṁ te pātitaṁ mayā ||

Bhīṣma sprach: „Indra sagte: ‚Du hast ein Opfer vollzogen, das mit Indra verbunden ist, doch du hast es vollendet, ohne mich anzurufen. O Frau von verirrtem Verstand, ich bin Indra selbst; ich war es, der die Vergeltung über dich brachte und die Feindschaft vergalt, die du gegen mich hegst.‘“
