आचारप्रशंसा

Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity

दिनमें कभी मैथुन न करे। कुमारी कन्या और कुलटाके साथ कभी समागम न करे। अपनी पत्नी भी जबतक ऋतुस्नाता न हो तबतक उसके साथ समागम न करे। इससे मनुष्यको बड़ी आयु प्राप्त होती है ।।

divā kadācid maithunaṁ na kuryāt | kumārī-kanyayā saha ca kulaṭayā saha ca kadācid api samāgamaṁ na kuryāt | svāṁ bhāryām api yāvat ṛtu-snātaṁ na bhavati tāvat tayā saha samāgamaṁ na kuryāt | etena manuṣyo dīrgham āyur avāpnoti || sve sve tīrthe samācamya kārye samupakalpite | triḥ pītvāpo dviḥ pramṛjya kṛta-śauco bhaven naraḥ ||

Bhīṣma sprach: Man soll am Tage keinen Beischlaf vollziehen. Niemals soll man mit einer unverheirateten Jungfrau verkehren, noch mit einer zügellosen Frau. Selbst der eigenen Gattin soll man sich nicht nähern, bis sie nach Beginn ihrer Monatszeit gebadet hat. Durch solche Selbstzucht erlangt der Mensch langes Leben. Ferner: Wenn eine Pflicht ansteht, soll man am eigenen, dafür bestimmten Wasserplatz ācamana vollziehen, dreimal Wasser schlürfen und zweimal die Lippen abwischen; so wird der Mann für die Handlung rituell gereinigt.
