Gārhasthya-dharma: Vāsudeva–Pṛthivī-saṃvāda
Householder Duties and Daily Offerings
इदमस्ति गृहे महमिति नित्यं निवेदयेत् । ते यद् वदेयुस्तत् कुर्यादिति धर्मों विधीयते
idam asti gṛhe mama iti nityaṃ nivedayet | te yad vadeyus tat kuryād iti dharmo vidhīyate |
Vāyudeva sprach: „Man soll regelmäßig in Demut erklären: ‘Dies ist in meinem Hause vorhanden.’ Und was immer jene Ältesten oder Gäste anweisen, das soll man entsprechend tun—so wird Dharma verordnet. Ethisch gilt als atithi (Gast), wer nicht dauerhaft im eigenen Hause ansässig ist. Darum soll man dem Lehrer, dem Vater, dem vertrauenswürdigen Freund und dem Gast stets das im Hause Vorhandene anbieten und sie bitten, es anzunehmen; und dann genau nach ihrer Weisung handeln. Durch solches Verhalten—Gastfreundschaft, Ehrfurcht und Gehorsam gegenüber rechtmäßiger Führung—wahrt man den Dharma.“
