अध्याय ९५: चित्राङ्गदस्य गन्धर्वेण सह संग्रामः तथा विचित्रवीर्यस्य राज्याभिषेकः

Chitrāṅgada’s duel with the Gandharva and Vicitravīrya’s consecration

विषाण भूत॑ सर्वस्यां पृथिव्यामिति न: श्रुतम्‌ । भरताध्युषितं पूर्व सो5ध्यतिष्ठत्‌ पुरोत्तमम्‌,तब “बहुत अच्छा” कहकर वसिष्ठजीने भी भरतवंशियोंकों अपनाया और समस्त भूमण्डलमें उत्कृष्ट पूरवंशी संवरणको समस्त क्षत्रियोंके सम्राट-पदपर अभिषिक्त कर दिया, ऐसा हमारे सुननेमें आया है। तत्पश्चात्‌ महाराज संवरण, जहाँ प्राचीन भरतवंशी राजा रहते थे, उस श्रेष्ठ नगरमें निवास करने लगे

vaiśampāyana uvāca |

viṣāṇa-bhūtaṁ sarvasyāṁ pṛthivyām iti naḥ śrutam |

bharatādhyuṣitaṁ pūrvaṁ so 'dhyatiṣṭhat purottamam ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Wir haben gehört, dass er gleichsam zum ‘Horn’ der ganzen Erde wurde — zu ihrer höchsten Zierde und Stütze. In jener vortrefflichen Stadt der Pūrus, die einst von den Bhāratas bewohnt war, nahm er daraufhin seinen Wohnsitz.“
