जनयामास पुत्रौ द्वावरुणं गरुडं तथा । विकलाड्रो5रुणस्तत्र भास्करस्य पुर:सर:,उसने दो पुत्र उत्पन्न किये--अरुण और गरुड। जिनके अंग कुछ अधूरे रह गये थे, वे अरुण कहलाते हैं, वे ही सूर्यदेवके सारथि बनकर उनके आगे-आगे चलते हैं
janayāmāsa putrau dvāvaruṇaṃ garuḍaṃ tathā | vikalāḍ 'ruṇas tatra bhāskarasya puraḥ-saraḥ ||
Śaunaka sprach: Sie gebar zwei Söhne — zuerst Aruṇa und dann Garuḍa. In jener Geburt waren Aruṇas Glieder unvollständig; und er wurde zum Vorläufer Bhāskaras (der Sonne), indem er als Wagenlenker des Sonnengottes diente und ihm voranzog.
