Ādi-parva Adhyāya 3 — Janamejaya’s Rite, Dhaumya’s Parīkṣā, and Uttanka’s Kuṇḍala Quest

Educational Q&A

The passage highlights disciplined adherence to delegated authority: once a qualified guide (purohita/upādhyāya) is formally appointed, the household or polity maintains order by following his instructions without constant dispute, while the ruler fulfills rajadharma by securing and governing territory.

The leader takes the priest, turns back to instruct his brothers to obey the priest’s commands without hesitation, and then departs for Takṣaśilā, where he subdues the region and brings it under his control.
