Educational Q&A

The verse uses an idealized landscape—fruitful forests, pleasant dwellings, lotus lakes—to signal a dharmic order where beauty, abundance, and harmony arise from auspicious conditions; it sets a moral tone that righteous realms are marked by prosperity and serenity.

Bhīṣma is describing a wondrous woodland scene: it is ringed by forest tracts laden with flowers and fruits and is further surrounded by charming buildings and lotus-filled waters, establishing the setting’s splendor and sanctity.
