मन्दपालेन वै यूयं मम पूर्व निवेदिता: । वर्जये: पुत्रकान् महां दहन् दावमिति सम ह,मन्दपाल मुनिने पहले ही मुझसे तुमलोगोंके विषयमें निवेदन किया था कि “आप खाण्डववनका दाह करते समय मेरे पुत्रोंको बचा दीजियेगा”
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: Mandapālena vai yūyaṃ mama pūrva-niveditāḥ | varjayethāḥ putrakān mahān dahan dāvam iti sma ha ||
„Zuvor hatte der Weise Mandapāla mich bereits über euch unterrichtet und gesagt: ‚Wenn das große Waldfeuer entfacht wird, so verschone bitte meine jungen Söhne.‘“
