शाड्गका ऊचु. न त्वं मिथ्योपचारेण मोक्षयेथा भयाद्धि नः । समाकुलेषु ज्ञानेषु न बुद्धिकृतमेव तत्,शार्ड्गका बोले--माँ! तुम झूठे बहाने बनाकर हमें भयसे छुड़ानेकी चेष्टा न करो। संदिग्ध कार्योमें प्रवृत्त होना बुद्धिमानीका काम नहीं है
Śārḍgakā ūcuḥ | na tvaṁ mithyopacāreṇa mokṣayethā bhayād dhi naḥ | samākuleṣu jñāneṣu na buddhikṛtam eva tat |
Die Śārḍgakas sprachen: „Mutter, versuche nicht, uns durch falsche Vorwände von der Furcht zu befreien. In Dingen, die von Ungewissheit umwölkt sind, ist hastiges Handeln keine wahre Klugheit.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse cautions against using deception—even with protective intent—and stresses that when knowledge is confused or uncertain, impulsive action is not genuine wisdom; ethical clarity and careful judgment are required.
A group called the Śārḍgakas address a maternal figure (“Mother”), rejecting her attempt to calm or rescue them through false excuses, and they argue that acting amid uncertainty is not a wise course.
