Mandapāla’s Lament amid the Threat of Fire
The verse grounds extraordinary power in a higher, cosmic source: the finest weapons are not merely human achievements but are linked to divine order. This framing encourages humility and ethical restraint—such power is to be regarded as sacred and used in alignment with dharma, not personal pride.
Vaiśampāyana continues the account by identifying the bow as a supreme, divine weapon and stating its origin: it was created long ago by Brahmā. The narration elevates the object’s status and prepares the listener to understand its exceptional significance in the unfolding events.
