Chapter 213

सच ते धर्म एव स्याद्‌ दत्त्वा प्राणान्‌ ममार्जुन । भक्तां च भज मां पार्थ सतामेतन्मतं प्रभो,मेरी रक्षा करनेसे आपके धर्मका लोप नहीं होगा। यदि आपके इस धर्मका थोड़ा-सा व्यतिक्रम भी हो जाय तो भी मुझे प्राणदान देनेसे तो आपको महान्‌ धर्म होगा ही। अतः मेरे स्वामी कुन्तीकुमार अर्जुन! मैं आपकी भक्त हूँ, मुझे स्वीकार कीजिये; यह आर्तरक्षण सत्पुरुषोंका मत है

sac cet te dharma eva syād dattvā prāṇān mamārjuna | bhaktāṁ ca bhaja māṁ pārtha satām etan mataṁ prabho ||

Arjuna sprach: „Wenn dein Dharma unversehrt bleibt, indem du mir das Leben schenkst, dann tu es. Selbst wenn es eine geringe Abweichung von deiner gewohnten Regel gäbe, wäre die Rettung meines Lebens dennoch eine große Tat der Rechtschaffenheit. Darum, o Pārtha, mein Herr—nimm mich an, denn ich bin dir ergeben. Den Bedrängten zu schützen ist das feststehende Urteil der Tugendhaften.“
