Gaṅgādvāra-tīrtha, Ulūpī-saṃvāda, and Arjuna’s Dharma-Deliberation (गङ्गाद्वार-तीर्थम्, उलूपी-संवादः)

तल्पैश्नाभ्यासिकैर्युक्ते शुशुभे योधरक्षितम्‌ । तीक्ष्णाडकुशशतघ्नीभिर्यन्त्रजालैश्व शोभितम्‌,जिनमें अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंका अभ्यास किया जाता था, ऐसी अनेक अट्टालिकाओंसे युक्त और योद्धाओंसे सुरक्षित उस नगरकी शोभा देखते ही बनती थी। तीखे अंकुशों (बर्छों), शतघ्नियों (तोपों) और अन्यान्य युद्धसम्बन्धी यन्त्रोंक॒ जालसे वह नगर शोभा पा रहा था

talpaiś cābhyāsikair yukte śuśubhe yodharakṣitam | tīkṣṇāḍakuśaśataghnībhir yantrajālaiś ca śobhitam ||

Vāyu-deva sprach: „Jene Stadt glänzte in herrlicher Pracht—ausgestattet mit vielen hohen Plattformen und Übungsplätzen für den Waffengebrauch, bewacht von kampferprobten Kriegern, und geschmückt mit Reihen von Kriegsgeräten: scharfen Haken und Speeren, den Wurfwaffen namens śataghnī, sowie anderen miteinander verbundenen mechanischen Vorrichtungen. Ihre Schönheit lag in disziplinierter Bereitschaft und wachsamer Sicherung.“
