Gaṅgādvāra-tīrtha, Ulūpī-saṃvāda, and Arjuna’s Dharma-Deliberation (गङ्गाद्वार-तीर्थम्, उलूपी-संवादः)
कृत्वा तु कुशलप्रश्न॑ सर्वेण नगरेण च । न्यविशन्ताथ वेश्मानि धृतराष्ट्रस्य शासनात्,फिर समस्त नगरवासियोंसे कुशलप्रश्न करके वे राजा धृतराष्ट्रकी आज्ञासे राजमहलोंमें गये
kṛtvā tu kuśala-praśnaṁ sarveṇa nagareṇa ca | nyaviśantātha veśmāni dhṛtarāṣṭrasya śāsanāt ||
After exchanging courteous inquiries about one another’s welfare with all the townspeople, they then entered the royal residences, acting in accordance with King Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s command. The verse underscores the ethic of public civility and orderly obedience to legitimate authority within the city’s social life.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dhārmic social etiquette—beginning interactions with kuśala-praśna (welfare-inquiry) and maintaining civic harmony—along with disciplined compliance with the king’s lawful directive.
After greeting the townspeople and asking about their well-being, the group proceeds to enter and settle in the royal quarters, doing so under Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s instruction.
