Educational Q&A

A ruler should value counsel that is both truthful (satya) and welfare-oriented (hita). Dhṛtarāṣṭra acknowledges that the highest guidance comes from wise elders and morally grounded advisors, implying that ethical governance depends on listening to such voices.

In the context of deliberations about the Pāṇḍavas and political decisions, Dhṛtarāṣṭra responds by affirming the authority of Bhīṣma and Droṇa and by conceding that Vidura’s advice is truthful. The line frames a moment of counsel before consequential action.
