Creation and Commissioning of Tilottamā
atroḍanyathā cet kriyate yad bravīmi paraṁ hitam | kuravo vai vinaṅkṣyanti nacireṇaiva me matiḥ ||
Wise counsel aimed at the common good should be followed; rejecting what is truly beneficial and acting contrary to it leads to swift ruin. The verse frames ethical decision-making as having inevitable consequences for an entire lineage or polity.
Droṇa issues a grave warning: he is offering what he believes to be the most beneficial advice, and he predicts that if the Kurus act against it, their destruction will come soon. The statement functions as a foreboding judgment from an authoritative teacher and strategist.
