The Ritual Formalization of Draupadī’s Marriage
The verse frames Pāñcālī’s beauty as divinely fashioned, suggesting that extraordinary qualities may be instruments of providence; such gifts can inspire admiration and desire, and therefore carry ethical and social consequences in the unfolding of dharma-driven narratives.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes Pāñcālī’s exceptional, universally captivating beauty, emphasizing that it surpasses that of other women and is presented as the Creator’s own workmanship—setting the stage for the intense attention she will draw in subsequent events.
