धृष्टद्युम्नेन समागतक्षत्रियगणगणना

Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Enumeration of Assembled Kṣatriyas

शोकबुद्धिं तदा चक्रे न चैकत्र व्यतिष्ठत । सो5गच्छत्‌ पर्वतांश्नैव सरितश्न सरांसि च,उस समय (पुत्रवधुओंके संतोषके लिये) उन्होंने शोकबुद्धि कर ली थी, इसलिये वे किसी एक स्थानमें नहीं ठहरते थे; पर्वतों, नदियों और सरोवरोंके तटपर चक्कर लगाते रहते थे

śokabuddhiṃ tadā cakre na caikatra vyatiṣṭhata | so 'gacchat parvatāṃś caiva saritaś ca sarāṃsi ca ||

Da nahm er bewusst einen Geist der Trauer auf sich, und so blieb er an keinem Ort. Rastlos wanderte er umher—entlang der Berge, der Flüsse und der Seen—von Ufer zu Ufer, getrieben von Kummer und dem Bedürfnis, jene zu besänftigen, die mit seinen erschlagenen Verwandten verbunden waren.
