Cause of Kalmāṣapāda’s Niyoga under a Curse
ततस्तस्मिन् गिरिवरे शुचिर्भूत्वा कृताउ्जलि: । आरिराधयिषु: सूर्य तस्थावूर्ध्वमुख: क्षितौ,तदनन्तर उस श्रेष्ठ पर्वतपर स्नानादिसे पवित्र हो भगवान् सूर्यकी आराधना करनेके लिये हाथ जोड़ ऊपरकी ओर मुँह किये वे भूमिपर खड़े हो गये
tatastasmīn girivare śucirbhūtvā kṛtāñjaliḥ | ārirādhayiṣuḥ sūryaṃ tasthāv ūrdhvamukhaḥ kṣitau ||
Dann, auf jenem erhabenen Berg, nachdem er sich durch Bad und die zugehörigen Reinigungsriten geläutert hatte, stand er auf der Erde, die Hände zum Gruß gefaltet, das Antlitz nach oben gerichtet, entschlossen, Sūrya, die Sonne, zu verehren. Die Szene hebt eine disziplinierte Frömmigkeit hervor: Läuterung, Demut und konzentriertes Gebet, ehe man göttlichen Beistand sucht.
