Der Gandharva sprach: „O Dunkeläugige, verlass mich nicht. Ich bin dir ergeben; und du, o Leidenschaftliche, sollst mich durch das Band der Liebe schützen.“
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse frames an ethical appeal grounded in relational duty: devotion and affection create an obligation of care. The Gandharva argues that love (prīti) is not merely emotion but a binding connection (yoga) that should express itself as protection rather than abandonment.
A Gandharva addresses a woman with affectionate epithets (“dark-eyed,” “passionate one”) and pleads that she not forsake him. He presents himself as her devotee and urges her to rescue/protect him on the basis of their loving bond.
