Educational Q&A

Focused, disciplined tapas undertaken with a clear intention can purify resolve and attract divine favor; the verse highlights perseverance and devotion as means to attain a righteous life-goal (here, marriage).

Vyāsa narrates that a woman, sorrowful and seeking a husband, begins severe austerities and, through that intense practice, succeeds in pleasing Śiva (Śaṅkara).
