बालो<पि यौवन प्राप्तो मानुषेषु विशाम्पते । सवस्त्रिषु परं वीर: प्रकर्षमगमद् बली,राजन्! अवस्थामें बालक होनेपर भी वह मनुष्योंमें युवक-सा प्रतीत होता था। उस बलवान वीरने सम्पूर्ण अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंमें बड़ी निपुणता प्राप्त की थी
bālo ’pi yauvana-prāpto mānuṣeṣu viśāmpate | sarvāstreṣu paraṃ vīraḥ prakarṣam agamad balī rājān ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Obwohl er noch ein Knabe war, o Herr der Völker, erschien er unter den Menschen wie einer, der die Jugend bereits erreicht hat. Jener mächtige Held, o König, erlangte hervorragende Vollkommenheit in allen Waffen und in allen Kriegskünsten.“
