Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)
उन महात्मा ब्राह्मगको देखकर वे सभी कुमार उनके पास गये और उन्हें घेरकर खड़े हो गये। उनका उत्साह भंग हो गया था। कोई काम करनेकी इच्छा नहीं होती थी। मनमें भारी निराशा भर गयी थी
taṁ mahātmā brāhmaṇaṁ dṛṣṭvā te sarve kumārās tasya samīpaṁ jagmuḥ | taṁ parivārya tiṣṭhantaḥ teṣāṁ utsāho bhagnaḥ | na kiñcit kartum icchā bhavati | manasi gurvī nirāśā samabhavat |
Als sie jenen großherzigen Brāhmaṇa sahen, traten alle jungen Prinzen zu ihm und standen ihn umringend da. Ihr Mut war gebrochen; sie verspürten keinerlei Wunsch mehr zu handeln. Eine schwere Hoffnungslosigkeit erfüllte ihre Gedanken—und zeigte, wie innere Entschlossenheit zusammenbricht, wenn Vertrauen und Ziel verloren gehen, und wie in einem solchen Augenblick die Führung der Weisen nötig wird.
