The verse highlights that individuals may have differing innate capacities: one may excel in martial disciplines while not showing the same aptitude for Vedic study. It invites reflection on aligning education and duty with one’s nature while remaining within the broader framework of dharma.
Vaiśampāyana describes a character whose intellect does not develop strongly in Vedic study but becomes notably sharp in Dhanurveda (archery/weapon-science), setting up his role and skills within the unfolding genealogy and events of the Ādi Parva.
