Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the traditional epic ideal of a ruler: prosperity (bhāgya), valor (vīrya), and intelligence (buddhi), along with continuity of lineage. It reflects how personal excellence and dynastic flourishing are treated as signs of auspicious destiny in the royal-ethical world of the Mahābhārata.

In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a future figure is being described in prophetic terms—he will be exceptionally fortunate, heroic, and intelligent, and he will father a hundred sons—foreshadowing major dynastic developments central to the epic’s unfolding.
