Pāṇḍu’s Gifts, Forest Residence, and Vidura’s Marriage

ततो निष्क्रान्तमालोक्य सत्या पुत्रमथाब्रवीत्‌ । शशंस स पुनर्मात्रि तस्य बालस्य पाण्डुताम्‌,उस महलसे निकलनेपर सत्यवतीने अपने पुत्रसे उसके विषयमें पूछा। तब व्यासजीने मातासे भी उस बालकके पाण्डुवर्ण होनेकी बात बता दी

tato niṣkrāntam ālokya satyā putram athābravīt | śaśaṃsa sa punar mātri tasya bālasya pāṇḍutām ||

Dann, als sie ihn herauskommen sah, sprach Satyā (Satyavatī) zu ihrem Sohn. Und er wiederum teilte seiner Mutter mit, das Kind habe eine blasse, weißliche Hautfarbe—ein äußeres Zeichen, das die Erzählung als bedeutsam hervorhebt, um den Neugeborenen zu kennzeichnen und seine spätere Verbindung mit Name und Linie des Pāṇḍu anzudeuten.
