Pāṇḍu’s Marriages, Conquests, and Triumphal Return (पाण्डोर्विवाह-विजय-प्रत्यागमनम्)
भीष्मो बुद्धिमदान्महाां कुलस्यास्य विवृद्धये । साच बुद्धिस्त्वय्यधीना पुत्रि प्रापपय मां तथा,“मेरे भाग्यका नाश हो जानेसे अब भरतवंशका उच्छेद हो चला है, यह स्पष्ट दिखायी दे रहा है। इसके कारण मुझे व्यथित और पितृकुलको पीड़ित देख भीष्मने इस कुलकी वृद्धिके लिये मुझे एक सम्मति दी है। बेटी! उस सम्मतिकी सार्थकता तुम्हारे अधीन है। तुम भीष्मके बताये अनुसार मुझे उस अवस्थामें पहुँचाओ, जिससे मैं अपने अभीष्टकी सिद्धि देख सकूँ
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: bhīṣmo buddhimān mahān kulasyāsya vivṛddhaye | sā ca buddhis tvayy adhīnā putri prāpaya māṃ tathā ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Bhīṣma, weise und großherzig, hat einen Plan zur Mehrung und Fortdauer dieses Geschlechts vorgeschlagen. Doch, Tochter, das Gelingen dieses Rates liegt in deinen Händen. Darum bringe mich in jenen Zustand — wie Bhīṣma es gewiesen hat —, damit ich die Erfüllung dessen sehe, was erstrebt wird.“
