Pāṇḍu’s Marriages, Conquests, and Triumphal Return (पाण्डोर्विवाह-विजय-प्रत्यागमनम्)

समागमनमाकाड्क्षेदिति सो<न्तर्हितो मुनि: । ततो5भिगम्य सा देवी स्नुषां रहसि संगताम्‌,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं-जनमेजय! ऐसा कहनेके बाद महातेजस्वी मुनिश्रेष्ठ व्यासजी सत्यवतीसे फिर “अच्छा तो कौसल्या (ऋतु-स्नानके पश्चात) शुद्ध वस्त्र और शृंगार धारण करके शय्यापर मिलनकी प्रतीक्षा करे” यों कहकर अन्तर्धान हो गये। तदनन्तर देवी सत्यवतीने एकान्तमें आयी हुई अपनी पुत्रवधू अम्बिकाके पास जाकर उससे (आपद्‌) धर्म और अर्थसे युक्त हितकारक वचन कहा--“कौसल्ये! मैं तुमसे जो धर्मसंगत बात कह रही हूँ, उसे ध्यान देकर सुनो

samāgamanam ākāṅkṣed iti so 'ntarhito muniḥ | tato 'bhigamya sā devī snuṣāṃ rahasi saṅgatām ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Nachdem er gesagt hatte: ‚Sie soll die Vereinigung erwarten‘, entschwand der Weise dem Blick. Darauf ging die edle Frau (Satyavatī) zu ihrer Schwiegertochter, die sich im Verborgenen zurückgezogen hatte, und redete zu ihr mit Worten, die heilsam waren, dem Dharma entsprachen und dem praktischen Wohl dienten.“
