Pāṇḍu’s Marriages, Conquests, and Triumphal Return (पाण्डोर्विवाह-विजय-प्रत्यागमनम्)

वैशम्पायन उवाच ततः सत्यवती भीष्मं वाचा संसज्जमानया । विहसन्तीव सत्रीडमिदं वचनमब्रवीत्‌,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! तब सत्यवती कुछ हँसती और साथ ही लजाती हुई भीष्मजीसे इस प्रकार बोली। बोलते समय उसकी वाणी संकोचसे कुछ अस्पष्ट-सी हो जाती थी

vaiśampāyana uvāca tataḥ satyavatī bhīṣmaṃ vācā saṃsajjamānayā | vihasantīva sa-trīḍam idaṃ vacanam abravīt |

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Da wandte sich Satyavatī, deren Stimme vor Zögern stockte, an Bhīṣma. Mit einem Lächeln, als wolle sie lachen, doch in weiblicher Schamhaftigkeit, sprach sie diese Worte—und ihre Rede wurde durch die Zurückhaltung der Sittsamkeit undeutlich.
