अयाचन्त च मां राजन् वरं तच्च मया कृतम् । जाताउ्जातानू प्रक्षिपास्मान् स्वयं गड़े त्वमम्भसि,राजन्! उस समय उन्होंने मुझसे याचना की और मैंने उसे पूर्ण किया। उनकी याचना इस प्रकार थी--“गंगे! हम ज्यों-ज्यों जन्म लें, तुम स्वयं हमें अपने जलमें डाल देना'
ayācanta ca māṃ rājan varaṃ tacca mayā kṛtam | jātaujātānū prakṣipāsmān svayaṃ gaṅge tvam ambhasi rājan |
Vaiśaṃpāyana sprach: „O König, damals baten sie mich um eine Gabe, und ich gewährte sie. Ihre Bitte lautete: ‚O Gaṅgā, sooft wir immer wieder geboren werden, sollst du selbst uns in deine Wasser werfen, o König.‘“
