एवं शशाप भगवान्‌ वसूंस्तान्‌ भरतर्षभ । वशं क्रोधस्य सम्प्राप्त आपवो मुनिसत्तम:,भरतर्षभ! इस प्रकार मुनिवर भगवान्‌ वसिष्ठने क्रोधके आवेशमें आकर उन वसुओंको शाप दिया

evaṁ śaśāpa bhagavān vasūṁs tān bharatarṣabha | vaśaṁ krodhasya samprāpta āpo vo munisattamaḥ ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Stier unter den Bharatas, so verfluchte der verehrungswürdige Weise jene Vasus. Unter die Herrschaft des Zorns geraten, sprach der vornehmste der Asketen Worte, die sie an die Folgen ihres Vergehens banden.“
