Shloka 51

अविमुक्तक्षेत्रमाहात्म्य — काशी-वाराणसी में मोक्ष, लिङ्ग-तीर्थ-मानचित्र, और उपासना-विधि

कृत्वा पापसहस्राणि पिशाचत्वं वरं नृणाम् न तु शक्रसहस्रत्वं स्वर्गे काशीपुरीं विना

kṛtvā pāpasahasrāṇi piśācatvaṃ varaṃ nṛṇām na tu śakrasahasratvaṃ svarge kāśīpurīṃ vinā

Selbst nach tausendfacher Sünde ist es für den Menschen besser, in den Zustand eines piśāca zu fallen, als im Himmel tausendfaches Indra-Sein zu erlangen, wenn dies ohne Kāśī-purī geschieht—Śivas Stadt, die von den Fesseln (pāśa) des Saṃsāra befreit.
