Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-vrata guidelines to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It prescribes a specific vrata-style purity regimen—night-only eating with sāttvika offerings—supporting disciplined Linga-puja and cultivating devotion to Pati (Shiva).
By framing the vow as regulated restraint offered to the supreme Pati, it implies Shiva as the liberating Lord who loosens Pāśa (bondage) when the Pashu (soul) adopts purity, rule, and devotion.
A vrata discipline (naktabhojana) aligned with Shaiva niyamas—controlled intake, sāttvika food (barley with ghee and milk), and rule-based observance supporting Pashupata-oriented self-restraint.
