Suta Goswami (narrating a protective invocation within the Linga Purana’s Rudra-focused discourse)
It functions as a fear-dispelling remembrance (smaraṇa) of Rudra’s cosmic sovereignty—supporting Linga worship by directing the devotee’s pashu (individual soul) to take refuge in Pati (Shiva), the protector who loosens pasha (bondage) such as fear.
Shiva-tattva is indicated through the Rudras as brahmāṇḍa-dhārakāḥ—cosmic sustainers—universally worshipped and established in satya; this presents Rudra-Shiva as the reliable, truth-grounded Lord whose power governs both cosmos and inner mind.
A protective japa/prārthanā (invocatory repetition) aligned with Pāśupata orientation: steadying the mind (mānasa) in Rudra-remembrance to dissolve the mental pasha of fear and restore inner fearlessness (abhaya).
